Welcome
to Atlanta
Atlanta is a bustling urban city that acts as a
major hub of business and culture. As Georgia’s state capital, nearly six
million people call this metropolitan area home. Atlanta has a wide variety of
real estate spread across many distinct districts and neighborhoods. The
prestigious Buckhead neighborhood, for instance, is known for its spectacular
multimillion-dollar estates. The city also has many other inviting
neighborhoods with historic properties, spacious single-family homes, and
stylish contemporary condominium developments and apartments in dramatic
repurposed industrial buildings.
This thriving modern
city offers some of the southeast’s most diverse shopping, dining, and
entertainment options. The Lenox
Square shopping center in Buckhead is an upscale retail destination
with close to 250 businesses. This four-level mall is anchored by
Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, and Neiman Marcus department stores. Other businesses
include restaurants such as Zinburger Wine &
Burger Bar and True
Food Kitchen and high-end fashion brands including David Yurman and
Louis Vuitton.
In the Old Fourth
Ward district, the enormous former Sears building is home to Ponce City Market, a mixed-use development
with a world-class food hall. The building is one of the largest in the United
States, and the gourmet food offered includes creative fare from several James
Beard Award-winning chefs. Another must-visit food hall can be found at Krog Street Market in the hip Cabbagetown
neighborhood. Atlantic
Station in Midtown Atlanta features dozens of stores, bars, and
restaurants in a chic open-air mall.
Piedmont Park
is the city’s signature urban greenspace. Covering 189 acres, Piedmont Park’s
many amenities include numerous sports fields, 12 lighted tennis courts, 22
barbecue pits, boating lakes with docks and fishing piers, splash pads and
swimming pools, and two large children’s playgrounds. Piedmont Park hosts many
of Atlanta’s largest events, including Atlanta Pride,
music festivals and superstar performances, and outdoor movie screenings
throughout the summer. The adjacent Atlanta Botanical
Garden spans 30 acres and houses numerous themed gardens, woodland
areas, and indoor recreations of habitats such as deserts and tropical
rainforests.
The 1929 Fox Theatre is a former movie palace in
Midtown that hosts Broadway shows and other cultural and artistic performances.
Midtown Atlanta’s other cultural amenities include museums and galleries such
as the High Museum of
Art. Georgia
Aquarium in Downtown Atlanta is the largest aquarium in the western
hemisphere, and its marine life includes beluga whales, whale sharks, and penguins.
Atlanta is a city
that loves its sports teams. The spectacular Mercedes-Benz
Stadium opened in 2017 and serves as the home field for the NFL’s Atlanta
Falcons and Major League Soccer’s Atlanta United FC.
Atlanta is also a
leading city for education and research. Atlanta operates its own public school
district with highly-rated schools as North Atlanta High School. The city’s higher education
facilities include Emory University, Georgia Tech,
Georgia State,
and Morehouse
College.
